Tuesdays are usually a little bit more laid back and usually the days where we make a lot of money on our commissions. One thing that we do on a daily basis is try and get people to update their accounts. In order for people to pay their memberships, they usually put a credit card on file so that the payments will come out of their account automatically every month. Every day, there is someones credit card that is either stolen, declined, expired, or just does not have enough funds on the credit card. For myself and my front desk staff, one of our duties is to try and get that person or people to update their account with either a new credit card or pay cash. In order to do this we have to make a lot of phone calls to members all over the United States. The more people that we get to update their accounts with us the more money we bring into the gym so it is very important that my front desk staff is trained to deal with angry customers and how to deal with the accounts of members. Tuesdays are usually days when we make plenty of these calls while also training them on the job on new things that they need to learn and how to perfect the way they do their jobs.
Today is also one of the days that once a week, I tour the facility to see if there is anything wrong with the equipment. Anything from broken down equipment, to rips in certain equipment. I chose Tuesdays to do this task because the maintenance man for the equipment comes in during the afternoon. I choose to perform this task in the morning so that he has a nice list of things to do once he comes into the gym. This particular Tuesday, the only thing that I had going on was a treadmill's incline button that wasn't working. It is very imperative that we get these minor problems fixed because members are quick to make it known if something is broken and aren't afraid to voice their opinion. Our number one priority as a gym is to make sure that members always have the best experience possible while visiting our facility.
